It's been a month since the last post... what is taking so long?!?

The CD is finished.  All songs have been recorded, mixed, mastered and now we are just waiting for the CDs.  The artwork is being uploaded today and will be going to print.  What a wild ride the past 10 months have been.  But it has been an interesting and inspiring time.

If you are wondering what the final song list is then your answer is here: A Child of God, What A Mighty God We Serve, O Church of God, Hear Them Calling, A Living Sacrifice, Are You Faithful, He Is Just the Same Today, The Church's Jubilee, I Know, There is Joy In the Service of the Master, I Will Praise Him, The Old Camp Ground, Come Closer to Me, Who Will Suffer With the Savior, and Once Again We Come.

There are some surprises on the project as well with guest vocalists Greg Johnson, Rob Joseph, and Morgan Ward along with a couple of kids voices (Noah and Meghan Parks).  There is also a treat with some voices of the past.

We'll keep you posted as far as the final release date.  News will be made available at www.outoftruthrecords.com and we are expecting to have CDs in hand by 4 August  2011.  You can check back here, at the Out Of Truth Records website, and our Facebook page (that we are currently working on) for more information as it becomes available.

SO MUCH has been happening lately and we are finally entering the home stretch!  THANKS to those of you who have been praying.  The issue we were having with the drums has been solved!

The song selections have changed... again.  We're really trying to be sensitive to what God is leading us to.  After all, this isn't about what WE want but what HE wants.  It is amazing how much easier things go when we follow his will for which songs to use instead of trying to bend his will to what we want to put on it.  (I'm sure there is a life lesson in there!).

A couple of weeks back, each time we met to record it just seemed as if things were not going quite like we had planned.  We were tired, unmotivated, and generally confused about the direction.  When we determined to make it a matter of prayer prior to the sessions and as we were beginning each session, things began to change dramatically!  Songs started "working" and the creative juices were flowing once again!  It never ceases to amaze me how God will respond to our prayers!

This next week-and-a-half is the final home stretch!  31 May is the target to be done with all the recording giving another month or so for the final mixing, album cover, photography, administrative details, etc, etc, etc!  Please pray for the strength and the stamina to make it through this last, but event packed, period.  It is difficult working full time, being involved with family, keeping at responsibilities at church AND recording a CD!  It is awesome to be one little cog in the gears of God's working but it is tiring too!  Till next time... keep praising the Lord!

Well, it has been a LONG time since the last update.  Holidays, work schedules, an unexpected death in the family and another bout with kidney stones have all had their impact.  Having said that much has been happening with the project.

We now have 8 songs that are either finished or close to being finished.  These are: Hear Them Calling, The Church's Jubilee, What a Mighty God We Serve, A Child of God, Once Again We Come, The Old Campgrounds, Come Closer to Me, Child of God, There is Joy in the Service of the Master.  We still have a few more to work on to complete the project.  Final song count for the CD will be around 15 to 17 songs.  We hope to have everything finished up around the end of May.

I've been encouraged by the support we are receiving from many people regarding hwat we are doing.  The Lord has opened many doors and things just "seem to fall in place."  One of the most encouraging moments was just the other day.

As we were driving in our van the other day I had my phone plugged into our stereo system to listen to some of unmixed songs we had worked on so far.  From the back seat comes the voice of my 6 year old, "Praise the Lord my heart, with his love is beaminng.  I am a child of God!"

That, in part, is what it is all about.

So?  What is "project : foundations" all about anyway? Simply stated, it is a collaborative effort by a few individuals to share the music and message of our early church of God hymns. Friday, 6 August 2010 marks an important date in this project: the day when the seeds that God had planted began to break above the soil... if only ever so slightly.

It was during the break between worship team practice and the evening service at the church of God's Ohio Central District Campmeeting that two individuals met and discovered that God had placed a mutual interest on each of their hearts: the love of the old church of God hymns.

Looking back, it's hard to recall exactly how everything fell into place but it goes something very similar to this:

Jon: Wouldn't it be great if we could redo some of the old church of God hymns?

Mike: Are you serious?

Jon: Yeah... I think it would cool so that more people could hear these awesome songs!

Mike: You ARE serious.... WOW!  You're not going to believe this but I've been working arranging some of the old hymns for about three years now.  In fact, I'll be singing one during Sunday night's service.

Jon: Are you serious?

Mike: Yeah... I've just been hanging on to them asking, "Okay God; you gave these to me, now what do you want me to do with them?"  I've been trying to figure out what to do with them for awhile now.

Jon: I have a recording studio and I'm looking to do a new project.  I've always wanted to do something like this but I can't do it alone and I've needed to find someone to help me out.

Mike : I've always wanted to do a project like this too.  I hate the thought that my kids and others might lose the deep message in a lot of these hymns but I've never had anywhere to record them...

And the rest is, as they say, history.  To date Jon and Mike have met several times, usually with an instrument or three around, to begin working on what has become known as project : foundations.  The excitement shared by Jon and Mike has bubbled over to some others as well and now they have become involved in the project as well.

This site is our first attempt to let everyone know what is happening with the project, what its about, progress reports, etc.  So check back often to see what is happening!  If you'd like to support us in prayer or just send a message to make contact then fill out the contact information on the CONTACT INFORMATION page.
